The Visalia Police Department is investigating the stabbing of a man Saturday night.

The stabbing happened around 9:51 p.m. in the area of Plaza Park. The victim walked into a local business saying he was shot, but police learned he actually had been stabbed.

It happened during an altercation with an unknown suspect, police say. He was transported to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

“The victim of this incident is a self-admitted bulldog gang member from Fresno who had just arrived in Visalia. Information from uninvolved parties suggests that this may have played a role in the incident,” police say.

However, the motive for the stabbing remains undetermined.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Visalia Police Department. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call the tip line at 559-713-4738.
