Man arrested in Tower District hit-and-run

The man who police say was involved in the altercation that ended in a hit-and-run that put another man in the hospital was arrested Tuesday.

Police said that reports by the media resulted in the identification of the suspect who is alleged to have been in the altercation which resulted in the victim being hit by a car in the Tower District.

The victim was listed in critical condition. 

The suspect was identified as Chase Popps, 24, of Fresno.

Popps turned himself in at the Fresno Police Department with his attorney. He was later booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of battery with great bodily injury.

His bail was set at $25,000 and he already posted bail.
