KERN COUNTY, California (KSEE-KGPE) – A man is behind bars after he was found with 82 pounds of marijuana concentrate during a high-speed traffic stop, the California Highway Patrol said Monday.

Around 4 p.m. on Thursday, a Buttonwillow CHP officer saw a 2019 Kia going north on Interstate 5 north of Lerdo driving about 118 mph, CHP said.

The officer stopped the Kia and eventually found a large amount of marijuana concentrate and marijuana oil, CHP said.

The Southern Tri-County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (STC-HIDTA) task force responded to the scene.

They determined the driver was transporting 600 (1 ml) dab syringes and about 82 pounds of marijuana concentrate stored in five-gallon buckets, CHP said.

The STC-HIDTA said the marijuana concentrate could be processed into about $1.5 million to $2 million worth of marijuana oil.

The marijauana was seized, and the driver was arrested.

He was identified as Muntasir Azad, 28, of Los Angeles.
