A Fresno man was arrested by Fresno police officers after spotting him driving a stolen vehicle on Monday.
Police say the Help Eliminate Auto Theft Task Force officers (HEAT) spotted Juan Acevedo, 34, of Fresno, driving a stolen Dodge Challenger with paper plates in the area of Central and Chestnut avenues. The Dodge matched a recently stolen vehicle, police say.
The vehicle was pulled over at Sarah and Lincoln avenues, police say. After a records check of the cars vehicle identification number (VIN), police confirmed the vehicle to be the stolen Challenger.
Acevedo was identified as a suspect in another car theft. Police say he stole a classic 1959 Ford 100 pickup truck from his landlord. Acevedo sold the Ford truck to another person, police say.
Acevedo was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of felony auto theft and receiving stolen property, police say.
