Hanford Elementary School District employee facing child molestation charges

A building maintenance worker for Hanford Elementary School District was arrested on child molestation charges, the Hanford Police Department said Friday.

Robert Alvidrez, 60, was arrested on charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under 14 years of age.

The victim first reported the incident to family members and law enforcement on Sunday, police said. The investigation revealed that Alvidrez had molested the minor over a period of time in early 2018.

“The victim is not a student at any school that he was working at,” Hanford Police Lieutenant James Lutz said. He adds the alleged abuse did not occur at a school site.

Alvidrez was booked into the Kings County Jail on Tuesday. If convicted, police say Alvidrez could face a minimum of three years behind bars.

The Hanford Elementary School District was not available to comment Friday regarding the arrest.

Police believe this was an isolated incident, anyone with information should contact the Hanford Police Department Investigations Division sergeant.
