Gunfire erupts near downtown Fresno, 2 victims found in Madera

The suspect vehicle was stopped on Highway 99 after authorities saw the bullet holes.

FRESNO, California (KSEE/KGPE) – A man and woman were shot near downtown Fresno after an eruption of gunfire Thursday night.

One car shot into the other car near G and San Benito streets around 7:30 p.m., hitting the victims inside the car, says Fresno Police Lt. Bill Dooley.

The victims took off northbound on Highway 99. Authorities stopped them near Avenue 12 because several bullet holes were seen in their car.

Dooley says it’s possible the victims were headed to a hospital in Madera, but authorities took them to Fresno’s Community Regional Medical Center after locating them.

There is no information on the suspect(s) or the car used in the crime.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Fresno PD at 559-621-7000.
