FRESNO, California (KSEE/KGPE) – Fresno Police are investigating a stabbing and shooting report after a large-scale fight broke out.

It happened around 9:40 p.m. when police responded to Belmont and Glenn avenues for a ShotSpotter alert. Lt. Tim Tietjen says there was a fight between two groups in an alleyway that ended with a victim being struck on the neck with a knife.

He says the wound is “superficial” and the victim will be OK.

Up to eight shots were fired but as of 10:30 p.m. there were no reported shooting victims, he says. It’s unknown if the suspect aimed the gun at others or in the air.

Police are making calls into the apartment complex, requesting anyone who may have been struck by gunfire, or was a witness to the crime to speak with officers.

Glenn Avenue is closed off of Belmont Avenue as officers investigate.

It’s unknown if the incident is gang-related.
