Fresno Police catch two men believed to have gunned down a beloved grandfather

Fresno Police announced the arrest of two suspects tied to a Easter Sunday murder.

Both are reportedly gang members with extensive criminal records, according to Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer.

Police believe 24-year-old John Chavez and 19-year-old Andrew Guillen gunned down a beloved grandfather in front of his four-year-old grandson.

It happened in front of his house on April 21, in front of a home near Jensen and Cedar avenues. Police say the attack was unprovoked, and that the victim was 53-year-old Alejo Armenta.

He was a beloved mechanic who would sometimes fix cars and bicycles for free. Officers in the area knew him on a first name basis.
