Fresno man’s arm slashed after refusing to give a cigarette, suspect on-the-loose

Crime

FRESNO, California (KSEE/KGPE) — Fresno Police are on the hunt for the man who they say cut another man with a knife after the victim wouldn’t give the suspect a cigarette.

It happened a little before 8 p.m. Saturday near 5th Street and Grant Avenue. The victim was on his way to the convenience store when he was approached by the suspect, according to Lt. Tim Tietjen.

That’s when the suspect asked for a cigarette. Once the victim said no, Tietjen said the suspect started slashing at the victim — landing one large cut on one of the victim’s forearm.

“The victim immediately called friends, who ran him to the emergency room at (Community Regional Medical Center). He’s being treated and he’s currently stable,” said Tietjen.

The suspect ran away after cutting the victim. He’s described as a Hispanic man in his 30s.
