FRESNO, California – Two men were stabbed near downtown Fresno Thursday night, according to Fresno Police.

The stabbing happened at Fulton Street and Nevada Avenue just after 7 p.m. Lt. Bill Dooley says a fight broke out between about six people.

Two men were fighting with about 4 to 5 people and the two were stabbed several times in the torso and head, Dooley says.

They were taken to Community Regional Medical Center in critical condition, but they are stable.

The victims are in their early 20s, Dooley says.

Five people in connection to the stabbing were stopped at Highway 180 and Peach Avenue not too long after the stabbing. Dooley says the victims either could not confirm if they were the suspects, or if they were not cooperating with the investigation.
