A man walking near a widely-known Fresno County intersection was struck by gunfire Sunday night.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. at Bethel and Rose avenues, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office. The man was walking when a suspect in a car pulled up and shot at him several times.

Deputies say he was struck once, his wound is not life threatening and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.

Multiple shell casings were found at the scene.

It is unknown if the shooting was random or targeted, and there is no confirmed suspect information at this time.

The intersection is widely-known for fatal traffic collisions. In February, an 8-year-old boy was killed in a DUI crash.
