Chase ends in crash near Porterville after shooting, CHP says

A high-speed chase ended with a crash Monday morning after a report of a shooting in Visalia, the California Highway Patrol said.

Early Monday, authorities were told to be on the lookout for a suspect involved in a shooting at the ampm/Arco at 600 S. Lovers Lane. CHP did not immediately have details of the shooting.

A suspect believed to be involved was located, and a chase ensued.

After reports that law enforcement were going to use spike strips to stop the vehicle, the crash came to an end with a crash on Highway 65 just north of Porterville.

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said that during the events, an officer-involved shooting occurred near Road 140 and 256. They will hold a press conference in the near future.

The highway is closed off in the area Highway 65 and Linda Vista Avenue, and drivers should use an alternate route.

No other information was immediately available.
