Authorities are asking for the public’s help to identify a man and woman captured on surveillance cameras who are believed to have knowledge of the circumstances surrounding the murder of an Orange County man.

At 7:15 a.m. on Jan. 9, a driver on Dower Avenue, just south of Herndon Avenue in Fresno, reported a man lying on the side of the road who appeared to be injured.

A Sheriff’s deputy, an officer with the California Highway Patrol, Fresno firefighters and EMS personnel responded to check on the man and determined he was dead.

Once a deputy coroner arrived to examine the body, it was discovered the man, later identified as Matthew Tidwell, 42, had suffered at least one gunshot wound, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Anyone with additional information should contact Detective Gary Haslam at (559) 600-8209 or Gary.Haslam@fresnosheriff.org.
