Crime

An arrest has been made in the murder of a Fresno mother.

The Fresno Police Department says on January 19th, 32-year-old Yanina Olivarez was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in serious condition. She passed away a few hours later.

Police say she had been severely beaten and this was a case of domestic violence. Officers arrested her boyfriend 31-year-old Brandon Moreno.

“This case was definitely determined to be domestic violence related and the suspect was formally charged with homicide on January 25th,” said  Deputy Chief Pat Farmer.

Olivarez was the mother of a 7-year-old child.

Fresno police say the suspect had a prior domestic violence arrest in 2018 and was currently on parole for robbery. He has been charged with murder.
