Arrest made after four fires started in one-mile radius

FRESNO, California – A woman is under arrest after Fresno Fire Department says she started four fires within a mile of each other.

33-year-old Elizabeth Hinojos is facing a series of charges relating to the incidents in Fresno, Clovis, and Fresno County.

Investigators say the first fire was intentionally set around 9.45 a.m. Friday. Crews responding to the emergency call reported a tree on fire at Peach and Ashlan Avenues in Clovis. They were then informed about another fire at an apartment at 5188 E Ashlan Ave and a trashcan on fire at the same complex. Then crews were informed about a structure fire at 5403 E Pontiac Way.

Witnesses told investigators about a woman seen walking in the area of the fourth fire. She was identified as Elizabeth Hinojas and booked into Fresno County Jail.

The 33-year-old has been charged with four felony fire damage charges.
