Armed, masked man robs Fresno County liquor store clerk

Crime

A liquor store clerk was robbed Thursday night in Riverdale by a masked, armed man, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.

At around 9:45 p.m., deputies responded to reports of an armed robbery in progress at a Shell gas station, located at 3610 W. Mt. Whitney Ave., says Sgt. Brad Gattie.

The robbery was “quick,” Gattie says, adding that it took just a minute to enter the store, brandish a black handgun and steal an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect is described as wearing a mask, dark baggy clothes and gloves.

Gattie says armed robberies aren’t as common in Riverdale as they are in Caruthers and Easton.

Surveillance footage is being looked at by deputies to learn more about the identity of the suspect.
