A Merced County home invasion turns into a shooting, deputies say. Two people were struck

A home invasion turned into a shooting early Wednesday morning in Merced County, deputies say.

A Merced County Sheriff’s Office news release says it received a report of a home invasion in Snelling, about 18 miles north of Merced.

The victims says several masked suspects entered their home armed with guns.

During the invasion, there was a struggle over a gun, and the homeowner and one suspect were shot, the news release says.

Both are expected to survive their injuries, and one suspect is in custody.

Detectives are investigating this crime and are encourage anyone with information to call the Merced County Sheriff’s Office Detective’s Bureau at 209-385-7472.
