Five people in Visalia were arrested after police say the group attacked a couple of officers Thursday night, the Visalia Police Department said.

Shortly after 11 p.m., two officers assigned to the Special Enforcement Unit contacted several
people who were drinking alcohol in front of a residence in the 900 block of east Cypress Avenue.

Police said the group was confrontational with the officers who were trying to get them to go inside the residence.

One in the group, Andres Ramos, 24, pushed an officer, police said. The officer had to physically restrain him in handcuffs.

That’s when the others attempted to free Ramos by attacking the officers, the Police Department said.

With the assistance from patrol officers, the five were arrested on various charges including attempted lynching, resisting arrest with violence, and assaulting officers.

Along with Ramos, John Marquez, 30; Robert Ramos, 26; Michael Jackson, 29; Angela Cisneros, 28, were arrested.

They were all booked into the Tulare County Jail.

There were no reported injuries.
