A 15-year-old boy was taken into custody on suspicion of a slew of violent charges Friday.

Visalia Police say it started around 6:30 p.m. when it was reported the boy was seen trying to steal alcohol from a Save Mart. When security tried to stop him, he pulled out a knife and threatened to kill him, police say.

After fleeing, he returned to the store where officers tried to detain him. After a short chase, he was caught. He was taken to a local hospital to be checked out, and when he was clear to be taken into custody, he fled police.

After yet another chase, he was caught again and booked at the Juvenile Detention Facility on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, brandishing, burglary, resisting arrest and attempted escape.

No injuries were reported during the incident, and all property stolen was and returned to the business.
