Park rangers are searching for a missing hiker in Kings Canyon National Park.

The hiker has been identified as 37-year-old Joseph Patrick Leap from Lakewood CO. Park officials say he is an experienced hiker but is not familiar with the area.

Park Rangers say Leap planned to hike Sunday morning, Oct. 29th, from Roads End to Mist Falls and Paradise Valley and return to Roads End the same day. His vehicle has been located in the park near Roads End Trailhead.

Crews from the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks Search and Rescue Team are currently conducting ground and air searches. If you have any information you are asked to call the park at  888-677-2746.
