Cops say pregnant woman shot and killed

Fresno Police continue to investigate the death of a 20-year-old pregnant Fresno woman, who was shot and killed Sunday morning. It happened near Griffith and Blackstone Avenues, at the Griffith Gardens apartment complex.
 
The family, of Amber Baker, is still in mourning. A makeshift memorial remains outside the apartment complex where Amber’s family said she was shot and killed with her four-month-old son in the room.
 
“It just seems so unreal,” said Cassie Baker, one of Amber’s older sisters.
 
Cassie said her family is still trying to find out what happened, early Sunday morning. 
The family said Amber, who was six weeks pregnant, was shot and killed with her four-month-old son, in the room. 
 
“I just wished I had all the details, all of them,” said Baker. “I just want to know if she suffered, or did she go fast, I just wish I was here for her.” 
 
Police said they responded to a 911 call at 5:45 Sunday morning at the Griffith Gardens apartment complex, but say the caller was not cooperative with the that was being given over the phone.
 
“We found a female, white female, in her 20’s, I believe she was 20 years old and she was suffering from trauma to her upper body the officers that arrived performed CPR until EMS got there and she was pronounced deceased there at the apartment,” said Joe Gomez, Fresno Police Department.
 
Police said several people were inside the apartment when they arrived and were questioned. Officers said they are looking at every angle. Police said an autopsy was completed Monday and confirmed Amber was expecting.
 
“She was pregnant, six weeks pregnant,” said Gomez, Fresno Police Department.
 
Amber’s family still in shock, wondering why this happened.
 
“She had her whole life ahead of her, and for her to be taken in her own home, she loved her house,” said Baker. “She was so proud, she was doing so good for herself.”
 
As for Amber’s four-month-old son, her sister said she’s going to make sure he knows the kind heart his mother had.
 
“Because she can’t be here watching her son grow up, I’m going to make sure I am, me and my family are going to make sure we tell him about his mom,” said Baker. 
 
The family tell us that Amber’s son was not harmed, they said he is doing fine and is with his father.
