Coffee house owned by married veterans opens in downtown Fresno

What is new and brewing in downtown Fresno? The Brew Fix Coffee House.
It’s the traditional coffee, aroma and space that makes the coffee house the perfect fix.
The new downtown destination had its grand opening on Friday, and compared to other businesses in downtown Fresno, Brew Fix has extended hours of operation.
The coffee house is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
And it’s a life-changing journey that inspired military veteran Elizabeth Fernando to open the coffee house.

“The downtown revitalization – we want to be a part of the movement and all the efforts, and there’s a lot of character and history down here,” Elizabeth said
Elizabeth and her husband Chris both served in the army. It’s where they met.
“My wife is really my inspiration,” Chris said. “She always loved coffee, and of course, I’ve been all around the world and drank many cups of bad coffee being in the military.”
Coffee became their everyday lifestyle.
At the corner of Fulton and Calaveras streets, you’ll see an American flag.

“At any given time, we always want to make sure we’re always protecting an American flag, and this American flag was actually flown in Afghanistan over multiple operations,” Elizabeth Fernando said.

The blue décor symbolizes “dress blue.”
“Every military person knows it’s that – that’s what we wear when new go to special events,” Elizabeth said.
The Fernandos say blue is a special thank you.
“Show your colors. Wear red, white and blue. We’re American, so it’s got to be on everything that we do.”
Police, military and fire personnel in uniform and veterans are always welcome for a free cup of coffee.
And the Brew Fix Coffee – it’s a coconut mocha macchiato.

The coffee house will be open on the July 4 at 6 a.m.
