Dave McCann is a 49-year-old clovis businessman with a British accent and ties to the UK. He’s wanted for killing his estranged wife and mother in-law at his wife’s Clovis home. The search for McCann now crosses boarders. A search of Fresno County court records shows McCann has nothing more than a traffic offense on his record. Also, there is no evidence of a restraining order filed against him.
It was a horrific crime on what should’ve been a beautiful Mother’s Day weekend.
“Sweetest person you’d ever want to meet, she’s not got a mean bone in her body” neighbor Teri Hickman said. “She’s, I can’t even tell you, she’s a beautiful woman.”
Clovis Police say Dave McCann stabbed his wife, Tierney Cooper-McCann and her mother, Judith Cooper, then fled in a Penske truck.
Police recovered that vehicle Sunday in Paso Robles.
“A person from Clovis shared the story with somebody in Paso Robles and that person happened to be walking by basically,” Chief Matt Basgall said.
Monday, it’s in police hands and seen here in these pictures.
Basgall says the truck will take several days to process, but investigators have found something else.
“We do believe we’ve recovered the murder weapon,” Basgall said.
Investigators say the weapon is a kitchen knife.
Monday, cleaning crews removed carpet from the home where the murder occurred.
Across town, employees at Community Regional Medical Center are also in mourning.
Hospital CEO Craig Wagoner led crowds at an event in a moment of silence, confirming Cooper-McCann was a child-life specialist in the hospital’s burn center.
Police say they’re also keeping a close eye on Cooper-McCann’s family.
Especially a witness, but police would not confirm her relation.
“Very shook up, very traumatized about what occurred,” Basgall said.
