(WFLA) – After a conspiracy theory began circulating about “Franken-pizzas” at Chuck E. Cheese, the family entertainment chain was forced to deny rumors that it serves pizzas made from leftover slices.
Popular YouTuber Shane Dawson said that since his childhood, he’s believed that Chuck E. Cheese staff would recycle old, uneaten slices of pizza and assemble them together in a pie to reheat and serve to unsuspecting customers.
As part of his “Conspiracy Series,” Dawson visited the pizza-parlor-arcade and ordered two pizzas. He noted that the pies — half pepperoni, half plain — “appears to be two different pizzas sliced in half and pushed together to resemble a whole pie,” according to Eater.
A video of the investigation has garnered more than 10 million views since it was published on Wednesday.
In a statement to HuffPost, Chuck E. Cheese denied Dawson’s allegations, calling them completely untrue.
“The claims made in this video about Chuck E. Cheese’s and our pizza are unequivocally false,” a spokesperson said. “No conspiracies here ― our pizzas are made to order and we prepare our dough fresh in restaurant, which means that they’re not always perfectly uniform in shape, but always delicious.”
Others were quick to call out the stunt and explain how the pizzas are actually served.
“We hand cut all of the pizzas. We have to do it fast because we usually have 5 more coming out right behind it. I’ve seen millions of pizzas cut and they always look a little off, especially if the person is new and just learning,” a user, who identified themselves as a Chuck E. Cheese worker, wrote a Reddit thread on the popular r/conspiracies channel.
