The California Highway Patrol is warning drivers about the dangers of crossing double yellow lines in order to pass slower moving vehicles– this after a vehicle collided head-on into a semi-truck.

The accident happened in Merced County.

CHP- Merced says the accident was caused when the driver of the Honda Civic crossed over the painted double yellow lines, in order to pass a slower moving vehicle.

Fortunately, no one lost their life in the accident.

In a post online CHP stated “It is vital that we follow the direction or instructions roadway markings provide. This will help reduce accidents like this from occurring.”

They say roadway markings are designed to protect drivers and serve as a major safety function.
