Fresno Unified School Trustee Terry Slatic has been the focus of several investigations.
One focused on his alleged mistreatment of a U.S. Army recruiter on the campus of Bullard High.
The other dug into an intense argument between Slatic and a wrestling coach.
The cost of these investigations could make your jaw drop.
A Fresno Unified School District spokesperson says through the end of June, the district has spent more than $114,000 on legal and investigatory fees related specifically to Trustee Terry Slatic.
District officials tell CBS47, the expenses will likely grow because this total only covers two investigations.
A district investigation still continues between Slatic and the cheerleader talk over the blackface incident on the campus of Bullard High.
So what does Slatic think of this?
Slatic says, “Every dollar is important because it can be spent for the kids. But why did we just spent $5,000 for Trustee Cazares not showing up for her seat at that business school we just did at Harvard last week. So we can talk about money in a whole bunch of different ways. $5,000 here and $5,000 there, for not getting a better price for investigators by putting it out for bid. There are ton of things just like that.”
Slatic says all the attention has been placed on him and the censure, but says no one is talking about the broken school district.
Slatic says he will continue to ask the tough questions as long as he remains on the audit committee.
Slatic says, “Let’s look at the expense reports of any of the senior administrator staff, who buy $2,000 worth of pizza at one of the family owned pizza places for a party. We can go down line item by line item and find the $114,000 it was.”
Slatic says he will only step down if the voters in his district want him to go. But adds until then he will continue to uncover items that he says needs to be fixed.
