CBS47 Investigation: Madera County Jail computer issues shuts down visitations, for how long?

News

MADERA, California (KGPE) – Studies show positive reinforcement, like visitation for those who are incarcerated, is vital in the rehabilitation process.

So when CBS47 received several emails from our viewers stating you’re not allowed to visit inmates inside the Madera County Jail, CBS47 Investigative Reporter Erik Rosales wanted to find out what’s the deal?

Jail staff says a computer hardware and software crash took place inside the Madera County Jail facility on October 4th.

Since then workers have been trying to fix the issue.

Inside the Madera County Jail, inmates can only see their loved ones through video conferencing and that’s why there have been no visits.

Staff says they hope to up and running at the end of this week or next week.

In the meantime, administrators want the public to know visitors can still go to the jail office and put money on the inmate’s books to purchase items inside.
