Car flips, takes out telephone pole, after crash in Northwest Fresno

In Fresno, police investigating a crash that sent two people to the hospital, and took down a telephone pole.

Police on scene at Ashlan and Polk avenues telling us, the driver of the red car lost control, hit a fence, flipping two to three times.

Neighbors who ran out to help say, two women were in the car and another driver in a gray car, may have been involved.

Those witnesses telling us, they saw a male driver yell and curse at the women, then drive away.

“We heard a loud bang and a big cloud of dirt, and then we ran outside, and noticed the fence was, like, missing and a car was flipped over,” witness Ashley Medina said. “And people were getting pulled out.”

Another witness, Frank Canel, telling our crews he helped pull one of the victims from the car.

“She was screaming, and the other, another gentleman, he was screaming back at her,” Canel said. “The girl who was able to get out of the car, she was panicking, she was freaking out.”

Police could not confirm a second vehicle was involved, but are still investigating.

The driver and passenger were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The area was closed as crews made repairs to the pole.
