Car catches on fire after being brought back from test ride, officials say

News

Fresno firefighters are on scene of a vehicle fire at the Lithia Ford on Bullard ave. between Blackstone and highway 41.

The fire broke out around 5pm inside the repair garage.

Fire crews say a new model car caught on fire shortly after the it returned from a test ride. Crews say workers were getting ready to move the car into the lot when they noticed a little fire underneath the car.  They then called 911.

Officials say it could have been a mechanical issue that sparked the fire.

No one was injured but people did have to evacuate the area. Smoke quickly filled the garage. Fire officials say it could have been a lot worse because the garage is filled with hazardous and flammable materials. Crews used a fan to blow out the smoke from the garage.

An investigation into the exact cause is underway.
