Car and Big Rig Collision Leaves 2 People Dead Near Selma

FRESNO, Calif. —  Rain hitting the valley in time for holiday travel creating dangerous conditions on the roads. 

 “It is really dark out here plus the weather,” said Sgt. James Del Carlo, CHP. 

 2 people were killed just after 6 following 5 car collision along highway 43 and Clarkson, near Selma. 

CHP said a Lincoln Navigator failed to stop at stop sign and a big rig slammed into the SUV. That’s when  two other cars got involved.

“We have a Honda Civic and a Jeep driving Southbound State 43, unknown speeds, they ended up getting struck by the big rig or the Lincoln Navigator. 

Then CHP officers said another big rig driving behind the first big rig struck the cars. A man in a Jeep and a woman in the navigator were killed. 

Another crash earlier in the evening at Tulare and Highway 41. CHP officers say this car hydroplaned onto the embankment and then hit a tree. the driver was taken to the hospital. 

CHP said the cause of the collision is speed..

“The puddle is going to be there it is driving too fast when you drive past that puddle.”
