Man, 31, goes missing in Sequoia National Monument, search efforts underway

California

Search efforts are underway to rescue a 31-year-old man who got lost in Seqouia National Monument.

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team started rescue operations Sunday, however heavy, snowy winter storm conditions are hampering rescue efforts.

The man is an employee of the Pyles Boys Camp, the sheriff’s office says, has no GPS or adequate navigational tools and the recent snow has made it “impossible for him to continue or find his way out of the wilderness.”

He has been in radio communication with the camp and sheriff’s office. Search and rescue coordinators believe they know his location and are moving resources into the area.

“Rescue efforts will continue until he is brought back to safety,” the sheriff’s office says.
