(KGET) — A 10-year-old boy is in critical condition – after he was struck by a car driven by one of his parents Friday afternoon in California City.

Cal City Police responded to a child hit by a vehicle near Neuralia Road and Ironwood Avenue just after 4 o’clock Friday.

When police arrived on the scene, they found a boy suffering from major injuries.

Cal City Police say the child was “surfing” on top of a car driven by one of his parents.

It was reported that the boy slipped and fell down in front of the parent’s vehicle – where he was run over.

The child was taken to a local hospital for his injuries.

Police say the case is still under investigation.
