Body cam footage released of deadly officer involved shooting in Napa


NAPA COUNTY (KRON) – Body cam footage has been released from a deadly officer-involved shooting that happened on Sunday night in Napa. 

Around 11 p.m. Napa County Sheriff’s Deputy Riley Jarecki made contact with a driver, identified as Javier Hernandez Morales. Officials say an altercation ensued. 

After asking Hernandez Morales to roll down the window, the footage shows him firing a shot at Deputy Jarecki. 

The deputy then fired back. Hernandez Morales was pronounced dead on the scene. 

Officials say no one else was in the car.  

The Sheriff’s Department has reported that Jarecki was not physically injured in the incident. 

The sheriff’s department continues to investigate the situation.
