Bay Area driver plows into pedestrians, FBI assisting

Federal investigators are assisting police in Sunnyvale after eight people were injured when a motorist appeared to deliberately plow into them.

The driver of the car was uninjured and has been arrested, but his identity has not been officially released. Witnesses said that he was speeding and drove directly toward pedestrians Tuesday evening.

They were all taken to the hospital following the crash. Among the victims is a 13-year-old girl.

Authorities said Wednesday that the FBI’s San Francisco office is working with Sunnyvale Police Department. A spokesperson said the bureau is determining if a federal crime was committed.
