More than 130 companies are spending a few days in Downtown Fresno at the California Food Expo.
The event was previously called the Fresno Food Expo, but this year it is bigger than ever with a new name.
Sam Chereskan drove from San Diego to Fresno to show off his unique product.
“We are the first vodka in the world to be made from bread we get from food banks,” says Sam Cheraskan from Misadventure Vodka.
Chereskan is the owner of Misadenture Vodka.
His company is one of 130 California businesses at the expo where 750 buyers will be testing and learning about products.
“I can’t imagine a better place for an expo highlighting California food than Fresno,” he adds.
35% of the companies are brand new this year.
John Jomehri is the director of Frill, a plant based frozen dessert company, he says this event urged him to make the drive from Pasadena.
“We are hoping to connect with other California companies to interact and exchange ideas,” says John Jomehri.
Monday was full of educational sessions for companies.
Tuesday is the trade show and Tuesday night is the public event called Explocious, that is where you can try produts and taste food made by local chefs.
‘We are looking forward, to make a lot of connections,” says the owner of Grandpa’s Popcorn Daniel Campbell.
Local companies are hoping to bring their Valley products to new areas.
“It helps with getting the exposure with minimal cost,” he says.
