Breaking: Fresno State Professor Who Taunted Trump On Twitter Will Not Return

Dr. Lars Maischack, the Fresno State Professor who’s hostile tweets directed at President Trump caused a national backlash will not be returning to the university,  the announcement coming in the form of a statement from Fresno State President Doctor Joseph Castro. Maischack created an uproar when he tweeted “To save American democracy, Trump must hang. The sooner and the higher, the better”, back on February 17th.

Maischack took a leave of absence from Fresno State in the weeks after the story broke nationally, but before he left he issued a statement saying that he meant no harm by the tweets.  The statement read: “To re-state the obvious: I do not intend to harm Mr. Trump, nor do I wish for anyone else to harm Mr. Trump by way of an assassination! … I am, however, convinced, given the nature of his regime, that he will be held accountable for his crimes in a court”.

A statement just released by President Castro stated the following:

“I wanted to share with you that Dr. Lars Maischak, Fresno State History lecturer, will not be teaching this fall. In accordance with California State University, Fresno’s contractual obligation, Dr. Maischak has been assigned to convert two courses to an online format which meets his unit requirement per the faculty collective bargaining unit agreement. These courses will adhere to California State University’s Quality of Online Learning and Teaching Standards. This contractual assignment concludes December 20, 2017”.
