TULARE COUNTY, California - The woman found dead on the Kings River on Thursday has been identified as a woman reported missing last year.
Around 1:45 p.m., Tulare County Sheriff’s detectives responded to a location on the Kings River just south of Avenue 416 after a nearby farmworker discovered a body near the river.
The coroner responded and later identified the woman as someone who'd been reported missing.
Maria Salma Gray, 68, had been reported missing on April 15, 2017.
There were no obvious signs of foul play, and it was believed Gray drowned.
At the time she had been reported missing, her vehicle was located about an eighth mile upstream from where she had been discovered, and a thorough search of the area was conducted at that time, the Sheriff's Office said.
Family members have been notified, and the case has been closed.
