Body of 35-year-old man recovered from Tule River

PORTERVILLE, California – Porterville Police and Deputies with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said they were called to the area of Highway 190 and Highway 65 for a report of a body found in the Tule River. 

The victim was later identified as 35-year-old Scott Benedict of Porterville. 

Detectives with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office dive team, responded to the scene and recovered the body.

An autopsy was performed and the cause of death was determined to be freshwater drowning.
