Monday Bernie Sanders’ big red bus arrived at the Free Speech Area at Fresno State. Sanders supporters spent the time reaching out to young students.
“We have found that they’re the easiest to approach, they seem to more readily accept the message of Bernie Sanders,” Amy Arlund said.
National Nurses United members have spent months traveling in the bus across the country delivering Sanders’ message. “The reason why we chose college campuses is because one of Bernies’ platforms is college tuition, debt free, free college tuition,” Arlund said.
For many students it will be their first time voting in a presidential election, bu not everyone we spoke with supports Sanders.
“A little worried as far as presence on campus with campaigning, there’s been a lot more of a Liberal and Democratic presence on campus,” Isaiah Salvador said.
Students who support Sanders’ campaign believe millennials are driving the presidential election. Several students registered to vote Monday as the deadline to do so is May 23rd.
“We really recommend that you don’t wait that long, please be proactive so you have a smooth election day, check your record right now,” Brandi Orth said.
The Sanders next bus stop was Sacramento.
