FRESNO, California.- On Tuesday morning Jose Arredondo, the owner of several Central Valley car dealerships, was murdered in Cabo San Lucas.

Prosecutors said his body was found with “signs of blunt force trauma”.

Arredondo was born in Mexico and later moved to California. Rev. James Ranger of New Life Church had been friends with him for over 20 years.

“It was so violent,” said Ranger. “It was a vicious thing that happened to him.”

Ranger spent time with Arredondo back ten years ago in Cabo.

“He was a real gift to me,” said Ranger.

Little did Ranger know, his outgoing friend would be murdered in the same place they had visited a decade ago. When he heard the news he didn’t believe it.

“Shock. First of all, disbelief until it was confirmed,” said Ranger. “Then obviously tears. My wife and I had been with him and his wife many, many times.”

“Saddened,” said Emmanuel Bojoquez who is friends with Arrendos’s nieces and often saw him at church. “I was saddened and a little bit mad about how it happened. The emotions were just going crazy.”

The 60-year-old’s death is still under investigation, which is the U.S. State Department said it is monitoring closely.

Our station reached out to the family who has not responded. According to Ranger, they are devastated and on the way to Cabo to get Arredondo’s body to bring back to the U.S.
