Local doctors begin seeing patients at clinic in Armenia

A team of local doctors have started their medical mission in Armenia.

On Monday the team began treating patients at various clinics throughout the country.

The Berg healthcare clinic in the village of Karakert is funded by the Children of Armenia Fund; they provide medical exams and treatment for the people who live in the villages that surround the area.

The Fresno Medical Mission sent six physicians Monday to the clinic. They include a dentist, ear nose and throat specialist, a doctor of internal medicine, as well as a vascular surgeon.

Around 11 a.m. the clinic was filled with people; doctors saw over a 100 patients and scheduled over 30 surgeries that will take place over the next few days.

This is a life changing opportunity not only for patients but also for the doctors who are impacted as well.

“The experience so far has been fantastic, and being able to help over here is a great opportunity for me, a blessing,” said Dr. Brien Tonkinson.
