A weekend of violence sends authorities chasing after gunshots ringing throughout Fresno County.
There were five separate shootings in Fresno and Fresno County – in just two days.
Four people were hurt and one man was killed at a wedding reception.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said there’s no real rhyme or reason as to why the shootings happened all in the same weekend. They say that it’s just a coincidence.
Fresno Police do not believe any of the five are related, but both agencies are asking if anyone has information to come forward.
The following is a timeline breakdown on the weekend shootings.
The first happened on Saturday around 5 p.m. Police say gunfire erupted near West Pontiac, where a man was shot multiple times and rushed to the hospital.
“This person was a black male adult 46-years-old sitting out in front of the apartment complex there, when a dark colored SUV drove by fired several rounds striking the victim in the hand and in the pelvis area,” said Lt. Mark Hudson with the Fresno Police Department.
About four hours later, in Fresno County, Deputies said they were dispatched to an apartment complex on East Clinton, near Sixth, where there was a small party going on.
“A 19 year old girl got up to open the door to let some people in, as she turned around to go back inside she hears gunshots next thing you know she realizes she’s been struck,” said Tony Botti with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.
Then two hours later, that same evening, near Marks and North Avenues, the sheriff’s office said shots were fired at a wedding reception, leaving 36-year-old Reynaldo Franco of Madera dead at the scene.
“What we really need to hear from is the people who left because we know that they heard or saw something,” Botti said.
The next day, on Sunday in Fresno, around 10:30 p.m., Police said a 28-year-old woman was shot in her legs while sitting in the car with her boyfriend near Mckenzie Ave.
They said the man was ok but say she drove herself to the hospital.
Deputies said the last shooting occurred around 11 p.m, near Barstow and Maroa.
The sheriff’s office said a man and his girlfriend were inside a Nissan Sentra. They said the woman was hit several times but the man was not.
Deputies said a dark colored car carrying around five people fled the scene.
Officials said the woman in the last shooting is in critical condition but the others are expected to be OK.
