A wine grape that’s rare to find in California is growing in Kingsburg.
Kingsburg winemaker Oscar Ramos stumbled across a small vineyard in town last year. It’s an 80-year-old vineyard of Carignan grapes. Ramos says the variety was widely planted across the U.S. in the 1960s, but has since been replaced by other varieties. Now, the winemaker is putting his own spin on the red wine.
Alex Backus has the story from Kingsburg.
