An 8-year-old died and three people were injured after a crash involving two cars in Fresno county, according to the CHP

The crash happened around 10:00 p.m. Saturday night at Bethel ave and Rose ave, a CHP spokesperson said.

The California Highway patrol said a BMW driving northbound on Bethel driven by Karmjit Singh a solo driver traveling at 100 mph failed to stop at the posted stop sign and crashed into a Kia Optima driven by Scott Martzen along with Megan Martzen and their 8-year-old son.

The juvenile in the Kia was transported to Valley Children’s Hospital where he later died. Both Megan and Scott have major injuries at Community Regional Medical Center.

CHP said Karmjit Singh was placed under arrest for possible DUI. Singh was driving on a suspended California driver license for a prior DUI conviction in 2016.

You may remember Martzen, the boy’s mother, who pled no contest to involuntary manslaughter after a toddler in her care died in February 2009.
