SELMA, California - A 67-year-old Selma man was killed Friday while riding his bike.
Just after noon, the Selma Police Department responded to Floral and Highland avenues about a garbage truck hitting a bicyclist.
When they arrived, they found the man dead in the road.
The truck was driving west on Floral Avenue and made a right turn onto Highland Avenue where it collided with the bicyclist, Police said. Initial statements indicated the bicyclist may have entered the road from the sidewalk.
Witness information is still being collected, police said. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
Drugs and alcohol were not factors in the collision, police said.
