The 2-year-old victim of apparent abuse in Tulare died, and the three adults charged in the crime are now facing homicide charges, the Tulare Police Department said Thursday.

Edward Dias, 36, Shania Alamillo, 23, and Adriana Alamillo, 27, were all arrested after a 2-year-old was not breathing nor had a heartbeat upon arrival at Tulare Regional Medical Center on Sunday.

They were charged with attempted homicide, torture, and cruel or inhuman corporal punishment of
a child.

Injuries were assessed and determined to be consistent with abuse, police said.

TRMC was able to stabilize the child for transport to Valley Children’s Hospital, but the boy died Thursday, police said. Now the suspects are facing homicide charges.

Another 3-year-old was found with the adults and was taken into protective custody.
