FRESNO, Calif. - A 19-year-old was shot and killed, early Saturday morning.
Fresno Police are searching for the suspect and need the public's help.
The deadly shooting happened around 1:25 a.m., in the parking lot outside of Las Micheladas Sushi and Bar, on Shaw Avenue and 6th Street, near Fresno State.
Police are asking if anyone has information to come forward.
It was back to business for employees and customers after workers said in the early morning hours, just as they closed, a fight that started inside turned deadly in the parking lot.
"I guess they had a little brawl and then one of the guys got mad I think he went to his car and pulled out his gun," Aaron Rodriguez, manager of the restaurant, said.
Police said the victim, 19-year-old Humberto Cuellar.
Officers said he was shot multiple times and transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died.
Police said the victim was not a gang member and was not armed but believe the suspected shooter is a Fresno gang member.
Rodriguez said it's the first incident for the newest business in this building.
"We kept everyone inside until eventually the cops got here," he said.
But this is not the first shooting near Shaw and Sixth.
Almost a year ago, last June, a security guard was shot outside Mariscos Costa Azul restaurant, when confronting suspicious activity.
Rodriguez said he plans to step up security measures to keep his customers safe.
"We just want them to come and enjoy the drinks and enjoy the food that we have," he expressed.
Police are asking if anyone has information to call them or CRIME STOPPERS at 498-STOP.
