October is “Domestic Violence Awareness Month”, local law enforcement agencies in Tulare County took part in a nationwide effort to crack down on domestic violence.
Wednesday morning several agencies in Tulare County went door to door at homes across the county to try and serve 291 arrest warrants for people wanted in connection with domestic violence offenses.
By the end of the multi-agency operation 18 people were arrested, including two women. The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office says 12 people were arrested for domestic violence warrants, 3 other people were arrested on unrelated warrants stemming from drunk or drug related charges.
Three people were also arrested for possession and cultivation of marijuana for sale. Deputies seized nearly 150 pounds of marijuana.
The remaining arrest warrants will be served by local law enforcement agencies.
This operation was part of the 16th National Family Violence Apprehension Detail.
