A 13-year-old boy was arrested after deputies say he threatened to bring a firearm to school.

Tuesday afternoon the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a student threatening to bring an AR-15 to Tipton Elementary School.

Witnesses told school officials the 13-year-old boy told people he was going to bring the gun to school on Wednesday, February 6th.

Witnesses told the sheriff’s office they saw a picture of the student holding an AR-15 on Snapchat about a month ago. Due to that photo students sent an anonymous warning using the school’s “online bully reporting system”, the sheriff’s office says.

During their investigation, deputies searched the home and found no weapons. The 13-year-old boy was arrested and taken to the Juvenile Detention Facility.
