Earlier Sunday morning the Los Banos Police and Fire responded to a major injury crash in the 1000 block of Pacheco Boulevard in Los Banos.

Police said a Dodge Charger travelling eastbound on Pacheco Boulevard going over 100 miles per hour broadsided a Pathfinder, causing the Pathfinder to separate into two pieces. The driver of the Pathfinder was wearing his seatbelt, but was ejected from the vehicle and remains hospitalized. Two other people in the Pathfinder were transported to a Modesto area hospital with major injuries, and a third passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

Los Banos police said that the driver of the Dodge Charger fled the scene, leaving his passenger pinned in the vehicle. As the officers were trying to help the passenger, the vehicle caught on fire, but the flames were quickly extinguished with a fire extinguisher. The passenger in the Dodge Charger was transported to a Modesto area hospital with serious injuries.

Police identified the driver of the Dodge Charger as Ivan Andrade, 21 of Los Banos. Detectives said they tracked Andrade to his home where he was arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and hit and run involving injury or death. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this collision and additional charges are anticipated.
